It might be surprising to know that over 25% of kids who get Covid, whether seriously ill or not, develop long-term symptoms, known as Long-haul Covid.
There is not a specific test that can be taken and there’s no directed treatment for it either. Long-haul Covid symptoms include any number of symptoms, as stated by the American Academy of Pediatrics, including fatigue, stomach pain, headache, rash, loss of smell or taste, issues with circulation, and brain fog. Children may also experience POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) post-covid, which is an abnormal increase in heart rate after sitting up from laying down or standing up.
Children may recover faster than adults, but the symptoms can still last much longer than one expects. One treatment to consider (whether on it’s own or in combination with other treatment methods) might be low-dose naltrexone. Low-dose Naltrexone has been known to benefit POTS.
