I had the opportunity to sit down with Tiffany Rose, owner, and Amber Donatelli, Esthetician, from Total Skin and Wellness, who were excited to talk about their new practice in San Clemente, California.
Tiffany has never been a stranger to anything involving the skin. Her dad was a dermatologist for over 33 years and she was a pharmaceutical representative in the area of dermatology in the early part of her career as well.
Amber has been an esthetician for over 15 years. She grew up with three sisters with a lot of time spent on makeup and skincare collaborating as sisters do. She quickly was dubbed the ‘Product Review’ person in her home, and so she took her gift of touch and combined it into the world of skincare as an ethetician.
Tiffany and Amber both spent some time in the mental health field as well, prior to building Total Skin and Wellness, where they learned that how you feel has a lot to do with how you feel on the outside too. Soon, Total Skin and Wellness was born and they say, they are just getting started! They offer a lot of the same services you may be familiar with when it comes to med spas, but their caring & personal approach and the way they bring aesthetics and wellness together, hand in hand, is the difference. They even have a post-partum pregnancy track, which is not something you can find anywhere else. This was an idea that took shape in their practice because they understand there are so many ways you can take care of women while they are on their pregnancy journey. Tiffany and Amber are there to help.
How can Total Skin and Wellness help you? Well, Amber shared with me her Five Top Tips for Skin.
-
- Drink salt water. Often times people feel they are drinking water all day, yet not feeling hydrated. Drinking water first thing in the morning with a generous pinch or two of real, high-quality salt or trace minerals can help you absorb your water. You can even add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar will help with skin dryness. Lemon can make the water taste even better and even helps eliminate toxins in the body.
- Full body and face exfolliation. You can do this with a dry, medium bristle brush before you take a shower. Start at the bottom and work towards the heart. Rinse in the shower and apply some type of moisterizer afterwards. This helps with lymphatic drainage. It helps your skin glow, especially during this time and helps with the detox process.
- Omega 3- fatty acids- Omega-fatty acids actually help with anxiety and depression. In addition to how it helps mentally, physically it will help with bringing moisture to your skin and help it to glow. You can get your omegas from foods like salmon, flaxseed and walnuts. If you don’t feel you’re getting enough, you can also take a high-quality supplement.
- Wear sunscreen every day. Make sure to apply to your face and neck and other exposed areas. Re-apply after some time and activity, as it can wear away. Pay attention to the UV index that you can easily check on your iphone if you have one, where you can access the weather. Early morning is the best time to be outside, when the UV index is low and you’re able to absorb your Vitamin D.
- Use non-toxic products. There are too many products with parabins, fillers and fragrance that are not good for our skin and disrupt our hormones. Our skin absorbs what it comes in contact with, so anything not good for us will eventually end up in our blood stream. Look for clean products and do your research. If something has a lot of ingredients in it that you have never heard of before, chances are it’s not a clean product.
If you’re looking to incorporate some of these practices into your skincare and wellness routine, but have a hard time figuring out what to get and where to find it, or you just don’t have the time, Tiffany and Amber can help.
