Our pets are our family. As our family members, we want to ensure they are healthy and free from harm. One of the ways we can care for our pets is by paying attention to their overall health. How can we care for their eyes?
- Do regular eye checks- look for signs of redness, excessive tearing, cloudiness, squinting or dishcharge.
- Keep their eyes clean- Use a damp, soft cloth or pet-safe wipes to gently clean around their eyes.
- Protect their eyes from irritants- avoid exposure to spoke, strong winds or dust, or chemicals that can get in their eyes. We often think we’re doing this, but keep in mind that items we use to clean our house and our clothes might pose a risk if they are too harsh or put in a place they can easily get into when they are playing or moving about the house.
- Ensure your pet has a healthy diet- protecting their eyes from the inside is just as important as protecting them from the outside. That is why a healthy diet that contains nutritients good for eye health is important.

Your vet will know what to give them and how to deliver the medication as well.
