Meet the Team

Jeff Barris, whose been called The Wellness Whisperer, did his undergraduate studies at UCLA and went on to earn his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 1970 from USC as one of only 150 graduates and the very first class to obtain the class of doctorate in pharmacy. It’s not surprising to know, though, that his interest in compounding pharmaceuticals began long before college.

At 16, an age many of us secure our first jobs, he began working for a friend of the family at a small compounding pharmacy in West Los Angeles. He started off making deliveries and over time, he learned the ins and outs of the pharmacy.

Working with people individually was what Jeff found most gratifying, and his intrigue in creating formulas and making them available to doctors & patients is what really kept him there.

After working part time and traveling throughout Europe, he stumbled across a small medical building that was just the space to start a compounding pharmacy of his own. He also connected with an organization, PCCA that specialized in compounds, a partnership where collaboration and knowledge was key.

He’ll never forget his first prescription. In his desire to be a part of and serve the community, he introduced himself to one of the doctors in the building his first day opening his Pacifica Pharmacy in 1983. The doctor asked him to make progesterone suppositories. It just so happened he’d made suppositories during his time earning his doctorate, so he knew just what to do.

Since becoming a pharmacist Jeff continues to stay on the cutting edge of medicine, health & wellness. He is certified in Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), an expert in Low-Dose Naltrexone and nutrition.

Today you can find Jeff at the pharmacy talking with patients about their health, wellness and medication. His focus is on integrative health and he integrates this belief in everything Pacifica Pharmacy does.

When he’s not busy helping others in the pharmacy, you might find him on the golf course or working out at the gym. Jeff currently resides in the South Bay area with his wife, Eli, where their pharmacy helps serve residents every day. He is also the proud father of his two daughters Makenna and Logan, and occasionally spoils his granddaughter Niko who keeps him on his toes.
